UPDATE: After our second collection day for the Pennies for Patients fundraiser for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. To this point our students/staff brought in $638.25! The top homerooms in order after the first collection date: 1st place- Mrs. Vander Veur $126.11 2nd place- Mrs. Hellman $115.21 & 3rd place - OFFICE staff $62.98. For those of you who are not aware, WMS is running a fundraiser for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society called Pennies for Patients. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is the worlds largest nonprofit fighting blood cancer. This topic is very important to us here at WMS as we have multiple staff members who have fought these cancers and won! We hope the funds raised can help others who are currently battling cancer.
Today was our first collection day and our students/staff brought in $306.97! I am very proud of everyone for rallying behind this cause (The top home room earns a pizza party so I think that helps the motivation a little bit)!
The fundraiser will have 2 more collection dates on 4/2 & the final one will be on 4/5/19. Any businesses who would also like to participate are encouraged to get in touch with Mr. Goyette at 377-3256. We appreciate any/all support! GO DEMONS!!!

The TIP kids from WMS participated in a Honk and Wave during Kick Butt's Day on March 20th. They made posters and encouraged drivers to honk in recognition of not using tobacco, or If they do use, they encouraged them to quit. The Tobacco Coalition provided doughnuts and hot chocolate for the students when they were done. GO DEMONS!!!

From Mrs. Vander Veur: Today the sixth grade math students continued their of study of fractions, decimals, and percent. Mrs. VV used a variety of items as visual representations for representing fractions, or parts of a whole. Students were challenged to think through the question, “How much is half?” The students realized through discussion that the size of the object matters much as the value of the number matters.
Thanks to the lunchroom ladies for helping slice the food and to Pizza Hut for the boxes. The students had to write percents into decimals and fractions for assessment.
Attention students interested in Hunters Education: Classes will begin on Monday, April 8 through Friday April 12th from 6-9 pm. Introduction and book pickup will be Monday April 1 @ 6 pm. All meetings will be at DCC - Ullman Center room 102. Parents and students are required to attend the introduction. All classes are mandatory. Students must be 10 years old on or before April 1. This is a classroom ONLY course and NO field day for online students will be offered at this time. Hunter Education is taught by volunteer instructors and is free to all students. Registration must be done online at fwp.mt.gov under the education tab. If you have any questions, please contact Trent Hansen 939-2564.

ICU BLITZ Day today! All students with no missing assignments got to participate in the fun! Those with work missing got the extra support to get caught up. Dodgeball tournaments, movie, ice cream, popcorn were the rewards for those off the ICU list! GO DEMONS!!!

LUNCH: Tomato soup with a grilled cheese sand., fruit, veggie, and milk NO Salad Bar
DCC is offering an intro to welding class for middle school. Girls class will be on March 13 and boys will be on March 14. You will learn basic safety and instruction as well as hands on experience. You will be able to create a piece that you can take home. For more information, please come to the office.
Student Council members attending the Helena trip - be sure to get your $20 in to Mrs. Schaaf by noon on Friday to pay for your portion of the trip meals. Checks need to be made out to WMS.
March 22 is the last day to order yearbooks. Mrs. James can not guarantee a lot of extra yearbooks when they come in so order now. The homeroom in each grade level that purchases the most will receive breakfast from Mrs. James. Order forms are in the office.
We have WMS Demon T-shirts for sale! The cool thing about these is that you get to put the print on yourself if you’d like! All funds from this fundraiser go directly back into the WMS fundraiser account that funds our BLITZ days and other fun things we do. Stop by the office and pick up an order form and see what they look like! Cost of the t-shirts is $15.
This is a reminder to students and staff to remember to nominate others for the TIP Kindness Award. Anytime you observe a student or staff member doing a kind deed for another, you may write up an award for them. These are delivered at the end of the month by our TIP members. You may pick them up from the main office or from Mrs. Nissley.
