Parent/Guardians, we have placed sign up sheets for Middle School boys basketball grades 7 and 8 in the office (6th grade will start in late February or early March). Please have your child sign up if they plan to participate. The first practice will be January 4, 2021. Students must have a physical and activity fees must be paid. We are trying to get a count of how many will be participating to determine staffing needs. Please encourage them to stop in and sign up this week. Attached is the middle school game schedule (subject to change). If you have any questions please see Mr. Goyette.

CONGRATULATIONS to Mrs. Heather Eckert- WMS Title Intervention Teacher for being selected as the November Staff member of the month at Washington Middle School! Mrs. Eckert genuinely cares for the students she serves and the staff she works with. She also is regularly the first to offer assistance to others when needed. Mrs. Eckert....YOU ROCK!!! #WMSDEMONS #GPSPRIDE #WMSAWESOMIZER #WMSSTAFFMEMBEROFTHEMONTH
What was your favorite thing to do during the COVID shutdown?
I loved all of our nightly family time. After all the work and school work was done for the day, we would all hang out together and watch a series together! It was nice to have a slower pace. :)
What is your favorite outside activity? I love hiking outside and early morning walks with my dog Nala when it’s not too cold! In the summers, we love going to baseball games.
Why did you decide to work at WMS? My husband and I both attended WMS as middle schoolers, so it’s really fun to be working there as teachers. We love our coworkers and students!
If you could be any cartoon character who would you choose and why? My favorite cartoon character has always been Belle because I try to see the good in everyone and I love curling up with a good book!
What is your favorite quote? “I trust the next chapter because I know the Author.” :)

On Monday, November 30, 2020, Glendive Public Schools will be moving to the restricted model for all grades 1-12, which means students will be attending school onsite Monday through Thursday. Kindergarten will remain in the A/B Hybrid model at this time. Our staff is excited to see all of our students back in the buildings. As this is a change for everyone, we would like to highlight a couple of things to make this a successful transition.

Also, as a reminder: GPS busing is only for students who have been using the buses in the Hybrid model. If you would like your student to ride the bus, you will need to contact Mr. Phipps at the bus barn (377-4055) to assure that there is a seat available.
*Release Times - Please note that JES release time has changed and is the ONLY school with a new release time.

GBB will be Thursday, Nov 12th 7th grade @ Glendive 4/5:15 pm; 8th grade @ Miles City 4/5:15.

Earlier this week, staff, parents, and the community were notified about the new protocols of Glendive Public Schools in regards to meetings (https://www.glendiveschools.com/o/gps/live_feed).
Monday, November 9, 2020 we will be conducting our regularly scheduled board meeting virtually. The following are some of the reasons the board decided to move the meeting to a virtual platform:
1) More people will be able to participate.
--With current restrictions, we will no longer have to worry about possibly limiting the number of people who can attend.
--We have been contacted by many people asking for our meetings to be live streamed. We are now able to stream our meeting without the use of Facebook as not everyone has a Facebook account.
--More people will get the opportunity to address the board through public comment. If you are interested in giving public comment at our next meeting, please see the directions below.
2) Consistency
--The board meeting will now be in line with what the school district is doing in terms of meetings
3)Safety
--Moving the meeting to a virtual meeting will help mitigate the spread of the virus and reduce the risk of staff, parents and community members being named as a close contacts.
